A Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is a registered nurse who has completed graduate or doctorate-level education. They have advanced training in psychiatric care and can provide psychotherapy and medication management. They provide much of the same care as Psychiatrists, and are qualified in assessing, diagnosing, treatment planning, and evaluation. Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners provide care to patients of all age groups, from children to older adults, in various settings, and collaborate with therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure they provide the best possible care for their patients.
We work collaboratively with your therapist in a collaborative manner in order to help develop the best treatment possible to help you live your best life. Your therapist may focus on your cognitive and emotional skills, where your Psychiatric NP will focus on medical evaluation and medication management, with some psychotherapy mixed in.
